Bardia National Park

Trip Overview

It is situated in the mid far western Terai region on the eastern bank of the Karnali river with an area of 968 sq. kilometers . The park is the largest and most undisturbed wilderness area in the Terai which is extends from the Churia hills southwards to gentle slopes of the “Bhabhar”. It is thickly forested by Sal trees, grass lands, savannah and many more forest. Animal like the Indian one horned rhinoceros, wild elephant, tiger , swamp deer, black duck, Gharial crocodile and Gigantic dolphin , Bengal florican , Lesser florican , silvered mesia Sarus cranes are some of the endangered birds found in the park. More then 300 species of resident and migratory birds are found thriving in the wilderness of the Park.

Two species of crocodiles swim in the Karnali, Girwa, and Babai Rivers – the blunt-snouted Marsh Mugger and the fish-eating Gharial with its long thin snout. These creatures share the water with the fresh-water Gangetic Dolphin. The Karnali also supports the great mahseer, which weigh up to 90 lbs, an angler’s prize catch. There is possible to make short or long trip which we offer on the package programs for our clients. The itinerary can be short and long on your request.

  • Plan A: (2nights/ 3days- full board at jungle lodge)

    Day 01: Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. You will be picked up from here. You enjoy the breakfast and get the briefing about today's activities in the park. Visit to crocodile breeding center and Tharu village. Jungle drive whole day with packed lunch. You enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 02: After breakfast you set out for jungle walk. You walk to Rhino’s, Elephant’s and Tiger’s territory up to Gola, Dolphin Place. You enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 03: After breakfast you depart from Lodge for Kathmandu.

    Plan B: (3nights/ 4days- full board at jungle lodge)

    Day 01: Drive or fly from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. You will be picked up from here. You enjoy the breakfast and you’ll get the briefing about today’s activities in the park. Visit to crocodile breeding center and Tharu village. Jungle drive whole day with packed lunch. You enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 02: After breakfast you set out for jungle walk. You walk to Rhino’s, Elephant’s and Tiger’s territory up to Gola, Dolphin Place. You enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 03: This day you visit black sanctuary with packed lunch and drive to Babai Bridge and walk upstream along the gorge of Babai river. You return to lodge in the evening. You enjoy dinner and overnight stay.

    Day 04: After breakfast you depart from lodge for Kathmandu.

TAAN Pokhara Chapter Explored New Trail
A team of Trekking Agencies'' Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara has explored a new trekking trail that starts from Kushma of Parbat and ends at Baskharka of Myagdi district.

A 17-member team led by Narayan Sapkota, former president of TAAN Pokhara, started the exploration with a drive to Kushma from Pokhara. From Kushma, the walk started toward Banau (2150 meters) through Ghumti, Bagaicha, Bhatebari, Dhakdhake and Sidhali
